Happy Family Day!

Dinosaurs invaded our classroom this week! This one is a student-led unit for sure! They know more than me in all my lifetimes combined!!

In Math we are working on our Money Garden projects. This week we built square foot gardens, looked at the planting guide per square foot, calculated how many veggies we could produce on 16 sq feet and started mini models of our gardens. So much unintentional and fantastic math!

In Projects Club we finished up our amazing stuffies. and in cooking we made Peasant Loaf and Baguettes!

Our Theatre class turned into a really thoughtful look at our conflict styles. We brought out some metaphorical animals and the Real Story of Mr Wolf to explore problem solving, compromise, and other strategies for communicating. This week we send Mr. Wolf to trial and pose as various lawyers!

In Nature School we propagated plants and planned our new gardens.

While I have always looked towards teaching for my profession, it was the two years as I spent in Japan an ESL teacher that convinced me I had found my calling. I enjoy the challenges we face in the classroom—the variety of learning styles, the creative versus the scientific mind—and see the day-to-day impact that teachers have on students’ lives. In my own classroom I try to create a sense of excitement and adventure. I strongly advocate for Multiple Intelligence as a central pedagogy.
